Our Recipe For Success
If you want to be the best at what you do, you need to surrounded yourself with the very best. And that’s exactly what we did when it came to choosing our ingredients. We recruited a ‘Coalition Of The Willing’ making it our business to recruit the best development partners, and to source the purest freshest ingredients from producers we know and trust, and who have the same understanding of excellence as us.
Nüsli is made at Killowen Farm, near Enniscorthy in rural County Wexford. The Dunne family has been making the highest quality farmhouse yoghurt for over 10 years. Their brand, Killowen Yogurt, tastes fantastic and has the medals to prove it. It’s been a winner at the Great Taste Awards and Blas na hÉireann Awards (2013 Gold and Silver), while also coming away as the overall winner of the Craft Food Quality awards in 2013. What makes it special, apart from the tender, loving care of the Dunne family and their team, is that all the yogurt is from the farm’s own herd of Friesian cows. As you’d expect, it is probiotic and contains no additives or preservatives. View website »
The apple juice blend for Nüsli is grown on Ballycross Apple Farm – just down the road from Killowen in County Wexford. Christian Von Engelbrechten and his family produce amazing tasting juice in one of the most picturesque locations you’ll ever see. Their juice is totally pure pressed, using traditional methods that date back generations. It is not made from concentrate, and contains no added sugar, water or preservatives. View website »
Our rolled whole-wheat is sourced from Kells Wholemeal, another Irish family company, located in Bennettsbridge in the heart of rural Kilkenny and with a real hands-on ethos. It is owned and managed by the Mosse Family, a name that has been renowned throughout the Irish bakery and milling industries for at least 7 generations. View Website »
Our oats come from the famous Flahavan’s company, who have been operating their oat mill beside the River Mahon in Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, for over 200 years. That makes it one of Ireland’s oldest private Irish family-run food businesses. View website »
Others In ‘The Coalition Of The Willing’
Great ingredients are part of the mix, but a great team is equally important. Apart from our suppliers, who were of invaluable assistance to us, we were also supported throughout the startup process by Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland, Teagasc (through the Food Works Programme), UCC, UCD Smurfit Business School and the National College of Art and Design. With that much brain power behind us, it’s little wonder we’ve been so successful in gaining a strong foothold in the Irish food market. Honourable mention must also go to our designers, Neworld Associates, as well as entrepreneurs, friends, retailers and students who gave their time so freely. We’re thankful for the support of each and every one of you!
